Buena Vista is concealed at the foot of the Rocky Mountain's Collegiate Peaks with the Arkansas Riverjust minutes from town.Elevation is 7,965 feet with a population of 2,200. Spanish for "Beautiful View", hikers have the largest collection of 14,000-foot Mountains,(known as "Fourteeners'), in the state of Colorado. For a less strenuous day trip, St. Elmo, located 20 miles from Buena Vista, is one of the best preserved ghost towns in Colorado with numerous historic structures and cabins. Haunted? … Okay, sure.
