The city of Boulder, with an elevation of 5,430 feet, is located at the base of the foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. It is 25 miles from Denver and near the Rocky Mountain National Park and Eldora Ski Resort. The population is approximately 102,500, including 25,000 students at the University of Colorado. One of Stephen King's most popular works, "The Stand," has Boulder where the 'kind' survivors of a deadly virus are drawn while the brutally tyrannical group of survivors is drawn to Las Vegas.

The area is filled with fun for every season! Take advantage of the 200 miles of hiking and biking trails or more than 30 art galleries and local museums. Bon Appetit Magazine has named Boulder as one of 'America's Foodiest Towns'.

The Pearl Street Mall is Boulder's outdoor four block pedestrian mall is the heart and soul of the city, where people stroll, shop and dine at the many restaurants and bars or just people-watch. There are great selections of restaurants and eclectic stores that are not found elsewhere. There are many events, festivals and parades along with street performers each day.

There are several parks and geological formations in the area that offer hiking, climbing and biking during the warm months. This includes the areas such as Flagstaff Mountain, the Flatirons and Chautauqua Park. There are numerous trails for beginners to advanced hikers. The views of Boulder and the Rocky Mountain region are stunning, and only improve as you climb higher.

The Dushanbe Teahouse is a must for both tea and art aficionados. It is located next to the Boulder Creek, and is one of Boulder's most popular tourist attractions. It is the only authentic Persian teahouse located in the Western Hemisphere. The Teahouse was constructed in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Boulder's sister city. Forty artisans worked on it over a period of 2 years. It was then disassembled and sent to Boulder as a symbol of friendship and cultural exploration. The ceiling of the Teahouse was carved and painted with intricate patterns, as were the 12 cedar columns that are throughout the building. They offer a wide variety of teas, and hold an annual tea festival each August. The cuisine is creative, and changes with the local, organic ingredients that are available each season.
